Yeah, if you're a her, serve who.

This is our daily freemium coach.

00:00:37.027 --> 00:00:38.542

00:00:38.542 --> 00:00:40.850
Sit back in the hot seat, take everything we give.

00:00:40.850 --> 00:00:44.308
Just promise to take action and let us know your wins.

00:00:44.308 --> 00:00:46.847
We know it's working for you too.

00:00:46.847 --> 00:00:48.564
I should add that too.

00:00:48.564 --> 00:00:50.101
On there more often, joe.

00:00:50.101 --> 00:00:51.941
How are you doing today, brother man?

00:00:52.042 --> 00:00:53.807
I got a curveball for us today, but this is fun.

00:00:53.807 --> 00:01:01.164
I think it's safe to say that most business owners run on coffee right, or at least something we had to have some in our system.

00:01:01.164 --> 00:01:06.230
I had my coffee pot completely just crash and die on me.

00:01:06.230 --> 00:01:12.251
And it was like I was getting ready to make that morning cup and it just didn't turn on.

00:01:12.251 --> 00:01:14.266
Wasn't the GFI, wasn't anything?

00:01:14.266 --> 00:01:20.932
I took this thing apart, tried finger and now, before my first cup, we know, sir, we know.

00:01:21.513 --> 00:01:22.903
Oh man, do you got figured out now?

00:01:24.600 --> 00:01:36.424
I'm going to say grateful for a target for having two hour pickup which we are going to get our coffee ready to go, and I have a new coffee pot ready and pumping the glorious energy juice.

00:01:36.424 --> 00:01:37.346
So I'm a happy man.

00:01:37.906 --> 00:01:38.787
Love it Love it.

00:01:38.808 --> 00:01:39.368
What about you, brother?

00:01:39.368 --> 00:01:39.769
How are you?

00:01:40.269 --> 00:01:43.674
I'm doing good, had a good weekend, spent some time by the river yesterday.

00:01:43.674 --> 00:01:45.396
Nice fire by the river.

00:01:45.396 --> 00:01:46.623
Can't complain about that.

00:01:46.623 --> 00:01:48.394
One thing I can complain.

00:01:48.394 --> 00:01:49.905
Actually, I've got one complaint.

00:01:49.905 --> 00:02:03.105
I don't know if this happens in cities around you or wherever the listeners are Right now, but like everywhere that's beautiful around here that any old car can drive is littered with shotgun shells.

00:02:03.105 --> 00:02:05.045
Every sign has a hole in.

00:02:05.045 --> 00:02:10.072
It Is garbage bags full of like diapers and crap that people just leave behind.

00:02:10.072 --> 00:02:12.206
I just don't understand that.

00:02:12.206 --> 00:02:14.865
Why do people leave litter in the bush?

00:02:15.907 --> 00:02:16.329
I don't.

00:02:16.329 --> 00:02:20.788
I see I both understand and don't, because I love to extreme backpack.

00:02:20.788 --> 00:02:31.931
So, like the thought of saying like oh, I carried something in I don't have to carry out is appealing, but at the same time it's not just our, it's not our planet, right.

00:02:31.931 --> 00:02:36.570
Like, just because you don't see it, just because you take it and bury it under the bush, doesn't mean it's gone.

00:02:36.570 --> 00:02:38.205
It takes forever to break down.

00:02:38.205 --> 00:02:41.424
So why do people do it Same thing as a shopping cart?

00:02:41.424 --> 00:02:43.545
Why do they not return it to the thing?

00:02:43.545 --> 00:02:45.847
Because there's no one keeping it accountable to do it.

00:02:46.460 --> 00:02:49.115
So if no one, looks, and they can look both ways and chuck it out a window.

00:02:49.115 --> 00:02:53.669
They're not thinking about it 60 miles later, but it's going to be there 60 years later.

00:02:54.570 --> 00:02:57.907
Yeah, we see fines Like it's thousands of dollars maximum penalty.

00:02:57.907 --> 00:03:01.043
I've never seen anyone hit with that, though I don't know.

00:03:01.043 --> 00:03:05.366
Anyways, today's podcast episode is a good one.

00:03:05.366 --> 00:03:08.151
Is six options actually too much, joe?

00:03:08.151 --> 00:03:13.591
I mean, there's got to be some times where we could not do six options.

00:03:13.591 --> 00:03:15.806
Otherwise this is absolutely tiring.

00:03:15.806 --> 00:03:26.450
But I know it's a big topic, I know it's a huge controversy, I know there's a lot around this, so why not revisit this topic and really help people understand why we choose six options?

00:03:27.272 --> 00:03:47.495
Sure, I'm actually really excited about this because this actually came up on a post not that long ago where someone on our page actually said something along the lines of like what's the best six options you can do for a fan, and people just kept listing material on it like, oh well, I'm going to put a better brace box, I'm going to now have it with.

00:03:47.495 --> 00:03:53.752
Everyone said surge protection, but very few people thought of things outside of the physical product itself.

00:03:53.752 --> 00:03:58.769
So in order to answer this question, I just want to call the reality into it.

00:03:58.769 --> 00:03:59.330
Is that okay?

00:03:59.330 --> 00:04:09.362
Yeah, man, all right, six options is always going to feel too much if you're focusing on the product and the commodity itself.

00:04:09.362 --> 00:04:14.766
Because you look at the fan, you're like all right, well, the fan's got a spin, I got to get it power, I've got to box it.

00:04:15.600 --> 00:04:22.401
But outside of the physical installation, we kind of draw blank and feel like we're just stretching for things In that capacity.

00:04:22.401 --> 00:04:24.067
Six options, 100% too much.

00:04:24.067 --> 00:04:28.889
But how we do it was that techie brain.

00:04:28.889 --> 00:04:30.321
You're right, tech brain.

00:04:30.321 --> 00:04:35.682
How we do it, on the other hand, is instead of focusing on the thing, we're focusing on the people.

00:04:35.682 --> 00:04:41.132
So a good example that came up with it was a customer wants you to install a fan.

00:04:41.132 --> 00:04:46.785
Right, they have a fan existing in the room and you notice that they have a remote for that fan.

00:04:46.785 --> 00:04:53.228
Now Clay, if you have young children, what are the odds that that remote is going to go disappearing at one point?

00:04:54.112 --> 00:04:55.427
Yeah, I mean forget the young children.

00:04:55.427 --> 00:05:01.252
I mean, there's dogs, there's even adults in this household that don't put remotes back, so it's going missing for sure.

00:05:02.045 --> 00:05:06.536
So the fact is that this customer would then have to walk through the room in the dark.

00:05:06.536 --> 00:05:13.033
Theoretically, because if the remote's the only thing that engages the light, whether you turn the switch on and off that remote, is the switch now right?

00:05:13.033 --> 00:05:20.310
So, as a result, if that is on, let's say you walk into the room that you're quoting and you notice the remote is on their bedside table.

00:05:20.310 --> 00:05:33.014
An option that you can consider is saying, well, would it not benefit them to at least acknowledge that you're walking into a dark room and then, secondary, say it's likely that they were using it near their bedside.

00:05:33.014 --> 00:05:51.334
So would it a good option then be saying why don't we cut an extra three-way pair and you can have one switch by the bedside that does the fan and one switch by the bedside does the light, and the same things by the doors, so you could walk into the room, turn on the light, walk to your bed, turn off the light.

00:05:52.584 --> 00:06:03.870
So what I'm hearing is more of a focus on their experience and how they're going to use that device and then applying our nice techie brains to try to solve that problem using our device.

00:06:05.144 --> 00:06:07.052
So it sounds like a smarter way of saying it than I did.

00:06:07.052 --> 00:06:09.031
I love what you're saying.

00:06:09.925 --> 00:06:23.648
I'm just paraphrasing in a way that my 30,000-foot view sees it as like how do I, as an electrician, get out of this focus on trims or circuit size and just focus on for a moment the why I'm there.

00:06:23.648 --> 00:06:32.812
The real why, though Not the why is in replace the ceiling fan, the why find replacing the ceiling fan.

00:06:33.904 --> 00:06:41.014
There's actually a great way and actually a question that you can ask your client to help find the answers to that, as well as learn how to build your options.

00:06:41.314 --> 00:06:41.935
Okay, let's hear it.

00:06:42.526 --> 00:06:47.016
It's going to sound a little weird, but it's asking so why do this at all?

00:06:47.016 --> 00:06:49.870
Why not just keep it the way it is?

00:06:49.870 --> 00:06:52.391
If it's not broke, why fix it?

00:06:52.391 --> 00:06:53.850
Why don't we just leave it the way it is?

00:06:53.850 --> 00:06:57.872
And it's weird because so many people look at that as well.

00:06:57.872 --> 00:06:59.355
Are you saying that you don't want the work?

00:06:59.355 --> 00:07:01.913
No, I'm not saying I don't want the work.

00:07:01.913 --> 00:07:06.711
I'm saying that I never want to risk quoting you for something that's not in your best interest or something you really don't need.

00:07:06.711 --> 00:07:12.889
So is it wrong to me to want to just know a little bit more of why you want this done, because I'm not totally convinced.

00:07:12.889 --> 00:07:16.569
We have to change it when you find your why.

00:07:17.271 --> 00:07:19.778
Now you can circle around the emotion attached to it.

00:07:19.778 --> 00:07:25.151
I don't like having the fan not run because I like to have a fan when I'm sleeping.

00:07:25.151 --> 00:07:26.846
Okay, let's figure this out.

00:07:26.846 --> 00:07:27.942
What is the fan?

00:07:27.942 --> 00:07:28.163
Now?

00:07:28.163 --> 00:07:33.242
The fan is a good night's sleep For all of us with kids.

00:07:33.242 --> 00:07:36.689
Is there not a number we wouldn't write to get a good night's sleep?

00:07:36.689 --> 00:07:42.370
So the difference is it's not just quoting a fan that was from Home Depot for $100.

00:07:42.370 --> 00:07:43.781
It's to them.

00:07:43.781 --> 00:07:51.769
This equates to I'm sleeping through the night, which means I'm rested for work the next day, which means I'm a better parent to my kids.

00:07:51.769 --> 00:07:56.752
All these little things are attached, but you would never know unless you figured out.

00:07:56.752 --> 00:07:58.204
Well, why don't we just leave it the way it is?

00:07:59.487 --> 00:08:13.110
Yep, and Tiffany just said something that I think is really instrumental being able to use their words then to also build those options, which puts you light years ahead of other people who may be providing on this estimate as well.

00:08:13.110 --> 00:08:23.129
That said, though, joe, if I could take a step back and challenge you here, especially with the title of this episode, so why not find out why, and just offer good, better, best?

00:08:24.680 --> 00:08:37.066
So the reason being is that we don't want to push a situation to where they're able to just say yes or no, because in a situation where someone can say yes or no, the lizard brain kicks in and we always go for the thing of least resistance.

00:08:37.066 --> 00:08:43.325
So the reason we're going for six options is because it allows us to better speak to the emotions we were just creating.

00:08:43.325 --> 00:08:49.871
We know that there's two premium options, two mid-range options and two economy options.

00:08:49.871 --> 00:08:57.826
So as we've built those choices, we know one that we're set for every buyer archetype before you even sat at the table.

00:08:57.826 --> 00:09:01.570
So we won't ever risk under or over quoting them.

00:09:01.570 --> 00:09:06.990
We'll have everything available Additionally once they find their buyer archetype.

00:09:06.990 --> 00:09:15.322
They're then still in a position to say this choice or that choice compared to this choice or nothing Additionally.

00:09:15.684 --> 00:09:23.950
The reason why six is that there are sciences that say that you need to be able to handle at least six nos in order to get a yes.

00:09:23.950 --> 00:09:33.428
So by able to start the top option and remove piece by piece by piece until you're at your bottom option, you become more skilled and able to handle objections.

00:09:33.428 --> 00:09:52.791
So if you think about this big 30,000-foot picture, we are able to identify our archetypes, we're able to present things without yes or no, we're able to go through it and describe it in a way that actually resonates with the customer and, lastly, we can handle their objections without having to use sales tricks.

00:09:52.791 --> 00:09:55.527
We're simply just saying here are your choices.

00:09:55.527 --> 00:09:56.763
How would you like us to proceed?

00:09:58.460 --> 00:10:04.721
That's actually my favorite part, and this is going to lead me to another question, which I feel is probably going to lead to another episode.

00:10:04.721 --> 00:10:11.073
But are there any exceptions to where you would offer six options?

00:10:12.082 --> 00:10:15.100
Yeah, there actually are, and they're few and far between.

00:10:15.100 --> 00:10:16.345
Do you want me to jump into them now?

00:10:16.820 --> 00:10:19.609
Yeah, if we just touch on it, and I think we could go into that more tomorrow.

00:10:19.668 --> 00:10:21.424
actually, Sure, not a problem.

00:10:21.424 --> 00:10:29.686
So the one particular example that I like to reference is you have a landlord who's called you to take care of their property.

00:10:29.686 --> 00:10:40.006
They themselves live multi-states or, in your case, in another province of the country, and they are asking you to come to their home to address something small.

00:10:40.006 --> 00:10:41.503
In their mind.

00:10:41.503 --> 00:10:45.726
They think of it as the ceiling fan or the trip breaker, whatever it is that they call on them.

00:10:45.726 --> 00:10:51.027
The odds of you getting them to drive five hours south for a presentation is not going to happen.

00:10:51.027 --> 00:10:52.024
They will not do it.

00:10:52.024 --> 00:11:01.610
And then, if you give them six options over the phone without them visually being able to see anything, it's very expected to say can you just email this over?

00:11:01.610 --> 00:11:15.947
And if we do that, we're now forcing them to have to do our jobs for us and hope that they make the right decision and hope that they don't share all our design secrets with our competitors and shop all that out.

00:11:15.947 --> 00:11:24.764
So in those circumstances, we actually have processes for designing three that are meant to be communicated over the phone.

00:11:25.246 --> 00:11:26.470
Nice, I like that.

00:11:26.470 --> 00:11:40.426
Yeah, let's touch on that again tomorrow For this one, then, and I recognize that we've got to keep this Monday a little tighter today, but what would you say is the biggest action item for someone here today Maybe asking this question?

00:11:40.426 --> 00:11:45.288
Maybe they haven't explored six options yet, or maybe they're just starting to come around to this.

00:11:45.288 --> 00:11:51.265
What could we do as an action item to help them embrace the six options and start using it?

00:11:52.068 --> 00:11:52.149
OK.

00:11:52.149 --> 00:12:08.427
So I got something right off the top of the dome, which is that if you're struggling making options consistently meaning that it doesn't matter what the call is, it's just you're struggling making options I'd be willing to put money down, not gambler, but I'm willing to say you know what?

00:12:08.427 --> 00:12:12.188
I have a bet that you are focused too much on the technical.

00:12:12.188 --> 00:12:21.309
The customer has asked for this and this is what you're trying to quote them for, compared to saying why do you want this?

00:12:21.309 --> 00:12:23.125
How does this benefit you?

00:12:23.125 --> 00:12:25.067
Why aren't we just doing nothing?

00:12:25.067 --> 00:12:26.865
Why this specifically?

00:12:26.865 --> 00:12:39.825
And by asking the why questions, you learn the more, and in that more you then become either justified or at least it's relative to bring their attention to these additional things.

00:12:41.009 --> 00:12:43.125
Awesome, then what would you say the All Star would be for this?

00:12:44.440 --> 00:12:46.822
The All Star is a little more advanced In that.

00:12:46.822 --> 00:12:56.184
For the All Star, when you're doing six options, is to understand that the customer is going to buy at a level that you may not agree with and that's still OK.

00:12:56.184 --> 00:12:59.605
Meaning you like myself.

00:12:59.605 --> 00:13:05.884
I consider myself a premium buyer, but it doesn't mean that I would decline an economy option if it was properly presented.

00:13:05.884 --> 00:13:12.725
On the other side of the coin, you could have someone who's an economy buyer and that doesn't mean that they're going to object to a premium option.

00:13:12.725 --> 00:13:23.548
You have to assume that, no matter what someone identifies as you, present the full spectrum of choices and let them decide how they want to proceed.

00:13:23.548 --> 00:13:32.346
Don't let your own impact say oh, they're selling the home, they're probably not going to want to do anything, they just probably want us to sign off on the inspection sheet.

00:13:32.346 --> 00:13:38.126
No, offer the things so that they can know that they're not leaving the home unsafe for someone else.

00:13:38.126 --> 00:13:40.787
You'd be amazed how many nice people there are out there.

00:13:42.059 --> 00:13:45.744
You know what they say about assuming we can ask you and me.

00:13:45.744 --> 00:13:49.063
We can ask you and me, guys, if this helped.

00:13:49.063 --> 00:13:49.586
Let us know.

00:13:49.586 --> 00:13:53.009
If you're playing with six options out there, let us know that.

00:13:53.009 --> 00:13:58.048
If you're thinking about it or you have arguments against it, please let us know that as well.

00:13:58.048 --> 00:14:10.307
Whether you're engaging with us, live on the Facebook group right now or you're listening to us on your favorite podcast service or our YouTube channel, go ahead and comment where you found us first, but let us know what your thoughts are on the six options.

00:14:10.307 --> 00:14:12.366
We'd be happy to go deeper on the next one for you.

00:14:12.366 --> 00:14:22.464
Other than that, guys, this has been another episode of Electricpreneur Secrets, where we help you master your sales, simplify your pricing and deliver premium level electrical service.

00:14:22.464 --> 00:14:24.125
We're going to see you guys again tomorrow.

00:14:24.125 --> 00:14:26.303
Thanks, joe, can we see them?
